YOUR FEE

Scott Soape has worked in financial services and lived in the Austin, Texas area since graduating from the School of Business at The University of Texas in Austin in 1982. While employed as a bank executive early in his career, he taught banking classes in the evenings for the local community college and served as President of the American Institute of Banking in Austin.

 

Drawing upon his expertise in managing multi-million dollar bank investment portfolios, Scott joined a regional investment consulting firm that was subsequently acquired by a large national brokerage house. Q: What, exactly, will I be doing?

A: You will be helping businesses settle their past due or disputed debts with their commercial creditors. Typically, all that is required is making a simple offer or two to the creditor and helping the parties arrive at a mutually acceptable payment arrangement. I will show you precisely how to do this and where to find clients.

 

Q: Is this like mediation or arbitration?

A: Sort of, except that you will always be hired by the debtor business and you will always try to get them the best deal. You will not be an impartial mediator.

 

Q: Isn’t this something only lawyers are allowed to do?

A: No. Since you will not be providing legal advice, you don’t need to be an attorney.

 

Q: What special qualifications do I need?

A: Nothing special is needed. If you can read, write and speak, you are qualified! Apart from this, a good work ethic and some self-motivation are helpful. My information is easy to follow and the business itself is not difficult.

 

Q: Do I need an office to do this?

A: You can easily operate from your home if you like. Many people do. Work part-time if you want.

A: Fees depend on the dollar size of the debt but average between $600 and $1,200 per case. Big cases are no more difficult than small ones and fees can be several thousand dollars for a large one. I have been paid $3,000 for cases that took no more time and effort than cases generating only a $400 fee. I’ll show you how to set your fees. Under normal circumstances, earning $1,000 per day is quite possible and a $100,000 + annual income will be well within your grasp.

A: The cases and clients are always out there. You should have more cases than you can work the day after you read my Business Plan System. I’ll show you where and how to find cases.
